Last summer, in an attempt to spruce up the balcony, I threw out a bunch of old plant pots - ones that I thought had nothing left in them, either from neglect or poor gardening skills or a combination of the two. You know those corners around your place that you forget about all winter long because they just seem to blend into everything else and seem like just another thing to deal with when warmer weather rolls around? Well, I looked onto the heap of old flower pots and a broken, decomposed chair and what did I find growing diagonally out of a skewed pot? These perfect, beautiful Fritillarias - one of my favourites to be sure. Happy Earth Day!
