First day of summer holidays - finally!! I made these black and white gingham curtains a couple days ago and only got a sunny break to take a photo of them today (more on our rainy June weather later). They don't cover a real window but this kind of weird window-sized opening in the wall that separates the boys' sleeping room from their play room (which is crazy bright with four (!) windows). Anyways, I've had this woven gingham for awhile now. They were even tacked to the window in our previous house for two years - yikes!
I wasn't so concerned here with blocking out the light as just creating more of a division between the two areas. They're not really early risers anyways.
Aside from sewing items for my shop, I have resolved to try and sew for at least half an hour, but not too much more than an hour every day this summer so, voilá, this is the first finished project. We like our lazy mornings here and I'd much rather go out in the afternoons on most summer days (especially now since this is the first summer that we are not on some kind of regular nap schedule - hooray?) so I'm devising a list of morning activities for the boys to do while I sew! Will it succeed? Fingers crossed. I will post my efforts over July and August.

Here's a picture of them closed. They will make the room nice and cozy when reading stories at bedtime. Have a great weekend!
