2 skeins of RYC Cashsoft DK in "Mist" or approx 280 yds of DK weight yarn
4mm (US size 6) circular (16") (or size to obtain gauge)
4mm (US size 6) dpn's
3.75mm (US size 5) circular (16")
tapestry needle
Gauge: 26 stitches and 30 rows to 4" in herringbone lace rib pattern
Herringbone Lace Pattern: (multiple of 7 stitches)
Row 1: k1, p1, k1, yfrn, p2tog, k1, p1
Row 2: k1, p2, k2tog, yfrn, p2
Abbreviations:
k: knit
p: purl
k2tog: knit two together
p2tog: purl two together
yfrn: yarn forward round needle
Pattern:
Using smaller needles, CO 110 sts, pm and join to work in the round.
Work k1, p1 rib for 13 rows.
Next round (increase round): Change to 4mm circular needles and (k3, m1) to last 2 sts, k2, m1 (147 sts)
Next round (begin lace herringbone pattern). Work rows 1 and 2 of lace herringbone pattern until hat measure 6" from CO ending with a Row 1 of pattern..
Next round (decrease round): *k1, p2tog, k2tog, yfrn, p2tog* repeat from * to * until end of row (105 sts).
Next round: k2, yfrn, p2tog, *k3, yfrn, p2tog* to last stitch, k1
Next round: *k1, p1, k2tog, yfrn, p1*
Next round (decrease round): k2, *p2tog, k3* to last 2 sts, p2tog, k1 (84 sts rem on needle).
Next round: *k1, p1*
Next round: k2, *p1, k3* to last st, k1
Next round: *k1, p1*
Next round (decrease round): k1, * p2tog, k2* to last 3 sts, p2tog, k1 (63 sts rem on needle)
Next round: *k2, p1*
Next round: k1, *p1, k2* to last st, k1
Next round: k2, p1
Next round (decrease round): *k1, p2tog* (42 sts rem on needle)
Next round: knit

Next round: knit

Thread tapestry needle through these 7 remaining stitches and fasten off securely. Weave in ends.
