well-dressed bed part three: monogram

In my opinion, the BEST way to incorporate typography into a bedroom, monogrammed bedlinens become an item unto themselves. They anchor a room, emitting the language of ownership amongst the imagery. well-dressed bed part two: bold

While I think I'm probably the kind of person who goes for a calm, quiet room for sleeping in, these examples of headboards and linens are too beautiful to leave out. This one above is just so feminine, happy and lyrical! Photo from decorpad.

Okay, I think this is my fave. Really, that suzani is one of the most beautiful I have seen.  Right down to the scallop-edged shams, the curves in this room don't stop. From House Beautiful, July 2009.

This bed strikes a fine balance between calm and bold by way of the floral shams made from Quadrille's China Seas collection in "Lysette". Simple. From House Beautiful, March 2009.

Another headboard with nailhead trim in orange velvet with pink, orange and green in the linens - crisp colours but done in a rich, textural way - so good. I am also going a bit cuckoo lately for Roman blinds. More on that later. Room by Alicia Lane.

Enjoying the sunny summer days with my guys, savouring their "twoness" and newly-turned "fiveness" as we explore various destinations in and around the city (highlight: seeing a seal pop its' head out the water at Harrison Lake, a glacial lake approximately 120 kilometres inland where, apparently, the seals follow the salmon up the Fraser River and then just decide to stay and live there - magical!). Hope you're having a sunny and relaxing summer too!

well-dressed bed part one: calm

Still thinking about bed linens and combining fabrics for dressing the bed. The above room is by Emily Ruddo and I love everything about the bed, especially the headboard and scalloped shams. Luckily the nightstand contents keep the whole look from becoming too symmetrical.

This bedroom is by Cynthia Smiley - beautiful variations in texture and quiet blue hues again.

This room by Bella Mancini Design.  Although I would go for two standard shams instead of the three back pillows, the mixture of materials and texture here is lovely especially nailhead trim on headboard. Again, shades of blue to conjure feelings of summer swims or floating on clouds.

This bed is really simple but the whole is so much more than the sum of its' parts.  I'm a BIG fan of white and all of its' variations.  The bordered shams, printed cushion and gathered bedskirt are gorgeous, perfectly complemented by dark walls.

I love how all of these variations evoke a sense of calm. All photos from decorpad.
